Mission accomplished, we made it to Max Yasgur’s farm. No huge festival or hippies immediately apparent but the place has a feeling of many other special places on this planet. It’s got a visitor centre and museum which is really beautiful and sympathetically fits in with everything around. The exhibits inside are just right and so we spent a couple of hours watching videos of the festival, reading accounts and just looking around. After the inside we headed to where the show had actually taken place, it’s a bit like a temple to the event but totally natural. There is an air of electricity still in the air despite all the years that have passed. If you get the chance go and see if you can feel the spirit of 1969.
Still buzzing from that we hit the road for Vermont via the Catskills and arrive in Bennington VT. More about the town and Vermont tomorrow 🙂
